26-27 Intro Meeting
Summary
The Family Council discussed meeting flexibility, leadership roles, finances, and upcoming family deadlines. Follow-up work will focus on the financial handover and family communications.
What we discussed
- Families expressed interest in flexible meeting dates and both in-person and virtual options.
- Sam and Emily currently hold financial information from last year. The council has a PTO account and a separate school Family Council budget.
- Kiara may serve as treasurer, depending on meeting dates.
Key numbers and dates
- School PTO budget balance: $2,118.42, provided by Emily (clerk).
- Parent Satisfaction Survey: November–December; closes December 18.
- Enrollment applications: due February 1.
Decisions
- Michelle will serve as secretary; Kady and Sam will serve as co-chairs.
- The treasurer will manage the Family Council account, which will receive fundraising money.
- The remaining school PTO budget (separate from Family Council account) needs to be spent down.
Action items
- Nkechi: Follow up with Emily Warms, former treasurer, about the remaining PTO account balance.
- Kady: Create a new Family Council Google site.
- Survey families about meeting timing, offering morning, midday, and late-afternoon options.
- Resend events-at-a-glance to all families.
- Follow up with Sam about the Family Council email address.
- Invite Emily Warms to meet with the new Family Council board before October 27, 2026, to hand over the account.
